Hidey Hunt

Privacy policy

Last updated 20 October 2026

Hidey Hunt is run by Greig Schofield in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data the Hidey Hunt app and website collect, why, who we share it with and your rights. Questions: support@hideyhunt.com.

What we collect

Why we use it

We don't sell your data and we don't show advertising.

Automated checks

We use AI (Anthropic's Claude) to check that hidey photos follow the content rules (for example, no people or number plates), that a find photo matches the hidey, and that custom names aren't offensive. A check can refuse a photo or name; you can try again, and moderators can review reports. Photos and names sent for checking are processed under Anthropic's commercial terms and not used to train their models.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run Hidey Hunt for us, under contracts that protect your data:

Where data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy regulations. Other players see your player name, avatar, badges, finds and leaderboard positions in the groups and towns you play in. Friends see your ranks only in groups you share.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account we delete your profile, photos and play history, except anonymised records we must keep for fraud prevention or legal reasons. Moderation records may be kept for up to 2 years.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent (for example, for location or notifications in your phone settings). You can export your data and delete your account in the app (Settings → Account). For anything else, email support@hideyhunt.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

Hidey Hunt is only for adults aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children; if you think a child is using the app, contact us and we'll remove the account.

Changes

We'll update this page if anything changes and tell you in the app about important changes.
